The 13th of August is a day that plenty of future students are looking forward to with more than a little trepidation. It is of course the day that so many of you will find out just how well you did in the culmination of coursework and exams that was your A-Levels. For most it will be a day of elation as they get the news that they have been accepted into their university of choice.
For others though, a slightly lower set of grades than expected can mean that their initial choices are not available to them and that they will have to go through the process of clearing.
What is Clearing?
Most students will be very aware of what clearing is but it is worth highlighting this important service.
Clearing is used as a database of all the vacant university places around the country due to people who cannot attend or perhaps not getting their first places.
Students who don’t have any viable options from their first choices can view and apply to these places in order to make sure that they get to university that year.
Isn’t It a Bit Last Minute?
Whilst clearing is often seen as a bit last minute it is actually a hugely useful tool and often leads to students finding a place on a course that is perfect for them.
One of the scariest factors for those using clearing is the fact that they will need to prepare to move to a city that is potentially nowhere near their first option. One of the most important and potentially difficult parts of this is booking into accommodation.
But the Campus Accommodation is Full!
