International Students
CityBlock has welcomed students from over 65 different countries. All our staff understand the cultural, geographic, and religious needs of overseas students, so they can help you settle in and get the most out of your university experience.
Our friendly, knowledgeable on-site teams are always on hand if you need someone to talk to and have received Mental Health First Aid training.
If you choose our student accommodation in Lancaster or Reading for your time at one of the local universities, we are confident you will feel happy and safe.
Our accommodation for international students offers you a safe and secure place to call home. Our accommodation has a real community feel with stylish kitchen and communal areas – perfect for meeting new people and making friends. What's more, we have multi-lingual staff teams to help answer any questions you may have.
We achieved at least 90% satisfaction amongst international students and were 1 of only 8 private hall providers in the country to gain this accreditation.
Why choose CityBlock accommodation for international students?
There are many benefits of CityBlock accommodation for international students. These include ensuite bathrooms with every room, communal areas for socialising and making new friends and excellent transport links to the surrounding universities. Our super-fast wifi will make studying and facetiming your family quick and easy and our 24-hour security will keep your mind at ease.
We offer a 50-week tenancy to all students, longer than most accommodation providers, so you don't have to worry about moving on as soon as the academic year is over. As you near the end of the academic year, you'll have the option to renew your tenancy for a second year and stay in the same accommodation. We also offer free summer storage for those who rebook for another year. This means you'll be able to leave your belongings in your room and not have to worry about transporting them home or renting out a separate self-storage unit.
Preparing for your time in the UK
When preparing to study in the UK, there are several things you will need to consider. We've tried to make things a little easier by giving you a handy checklist below:
- Arrange a Visa – You will need a student visa to study in the UK. You can apply online, via post or in person. The UKCISA provides lots of information about applying for your study visa should you need any help
- Apply for a UK bank account – during your time in the UK, it will be easier to have a UK Bank account to pay for food, travel, meals and entertainment. To open a bank account, you will need your passport, visa, proof of address in the UK and your home country, proof of student status and proof of income.
- Make sure you have everything you need - CityBlock's partnership with UniKitOut means you can arrange for bedding and bathroom items to be delivered to your room, ready for your arrival.
