So, the new term is well and truly underway and for all those Freshers out there, we hope you are absolutely loving it! Hopefully you’ve already learnt plenty in your lectures and you’re well on your way to becoming a genius. But with lectures comes a lot of important decisions to make – how late can I stay up before my 9am lecture? How likely is it that my lecturer will notice me playing candy crush on my phone?
All important questions, but one you might be considering is whether you should take notes on your laptop or in a notebook. So, we’re going to do the hard work for you and find out which one is best.
LAPTOP – Save All Your Notes in One Place
One of the great things about having your laptop for notes is that you can save them all in one place that you can easily access. You can even set up folders for different modules if you really want to be super organised.
NOTEBOOK – Yeah, but Colour Coding Though?
If you’re anything like us, you’re most happy when you have plenty of different coloured fine liners to make notes with, colour coding every step of the way. Ok, that might be a bold statement, but seriously, coloured pens make 3 hour long lectures enjoyable!
LAPTOP – You Can Access the Internet
So your lecturer used the word ‘bumfuzzle’ and you have no idea what they’re talking about. Well, with the power of Google, you’ll be able to keep up with their ridiculous vocabulary. Oh, and by the way, bumfuzzle means confuse, perplex or fluster… you’re telling us!
NOTEBOOK – Space to Draw
Now, we’re not talking about drawing little doodles as your mind drifts off into space. We’re talking about those helpful little diagrams you can draw that will make everything make sense again when you read over your notes months down the line! Try doing that on your laptop…
LAPTOP – Entertain Yourself…
While everybody else is drifting off in a particularly boring lecture, you could be making use of your time by engaging in a thrilling game of solitaire…
NOTEBOOK – Avoid Distractions
Solitaire, really? Sure, a laptop may be able to keep you entertained, but lectures are for learning after all!
Well, it looks like it’s a tie. We just can’t choose between the two, so you will just have to find out what works for you. Don’t forget, now is the perfect time to get booking next year’s accommodation!
